Uruguai
The association Los Azoreños was established on the 24 August 1963 and it completed 50 years of existence in 2013. LozAzoreños was founded by a group of descendants from Azoreans with the purpose of salvaging and promoting the Azorean identity. It has promoted the establishment of closer historical and cultural relations between the Azores and Uruguay. It is the only institution of its kind in the country.
in 2011, at the Fifteenth General Assembly of the World Council of Houses of the Azores, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, the association joined the World Council and changed its name to House of the Azores of Uruguay – Los Azoreños.
This Azorean institution maintains an active partnership with the Regional Government of the Azores. It signed a protocol of cooperation with the Regional Government, through which it has obtained financial support.
